REFLECTA PRIME FILM 1800I TREIBER

I now use a Canon F, which, even though it is ‘only’ a flatbed, not a film scanner, produces far, far better results. It seriously struggles with contrasty transparencies or black and white negs, and the scanner software is very limited. There is another ‘budget’ scanner, the Plustek OpticFilm , which does surprisingly well in reviews considering its price, though it has similar limitations on dynamic range though not resolution , thus will also struggle on dense negatives and contrasty slides. I own the Mediax FilmScan incarnation, it is also sold under a few other brands Reflecta , and I don’t know what the exact difference between u and i is. A Konica Minolta Dual Scan IV will pay dividends in terms of the consistency and quality of the results, and while it is a little more expensive than the PrimeFilm or the Plustek, it is a very decent device. For me, the quality was not even acceptable for web display, let alone printing. I have owned an u. Anyone own Primefilm u or i? Frankly, you’d be better off scanning film on a flatbed at the same price point; the flatbed will at least be faster. Every aspect of the thing was bad:

I threw mine away! I had one, but got rid of it very quickly. I now use a Canon F, which, even though it is ‘only’ a flatbed, not a film scanner, produces far, far better results.

For me, the quality was not even acceptable for web display, let alone printing. I helped 2 treibe it set up and with Silverfast, it’s capable of some pretty good scans.

It seriously struggles with contrasty transparencies or black and white negs, and the scanner software is very limited. I was curious if reflrcta had these and what the opinions were of it. A Konica Minolta Dual Scan IV will pay dividends in terms of the consistency and quality of the results, and while it is a little more expensive than the PrimeFilm or the Plustek, it is a very decent device. It is limited to Reeflecta support.

Pacific Image Electronics PrimeFilm i – for better Scans, buy SilverFast Scanner Software

I have owned an u. I just want something I can scan slides and some negatives for viewing and printing of 4X6. Of course at the time I had no idea just how limited it was I don’t want another flat bed scanner.

I did have a lot of fun with it, starting out, but I would not recommend it as a serious purchase. Share This Page Tweet.

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this total POS – possibly the worst film scanner ever!

What is the difference between the two models? Anyone own Primefilm u or i?
