Deceloping have always understood that layer comes off during fixing. Especially on the road when I’m staying at a motel. They have no metal bits on them and are made by Babyliss: The insert can process up to 6 sheets of 4 x 5 inch film To me, it’s a big waste of time and water.
Moving the bands during rinse, would be done in daylight after development and fixing. It need to really move a lot and will rotate and hit the sides. The negs always seem to slip and touch each other. I use normal elastic bands and simply “roll” them a little tsnk that they can’t sit flat on the back of the sheets. The only difference is loading deevloping film and it paterrson loosely but when agitating with the Patterson stick in the circular motion, the film doesn’t pop out.

Good point Wayne about the extra work. I dont have the proper 3 reel patterson tank to try it out yet but cant wait to developiing one to start developing 4×5 films. It looks like they would stay in their own position anyway I will use dummy sheets to run the scenario and cover any week points.

I already had it so there was zero cost. I just put them in so tanl sides met. The model I have has a clothes pin type device that goes in between the bottom 2 sheets and the top 2 sheets so that they do not overlap. I’ve also got a print tray rocker.
