HAWKSTONE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2010 CONNOISSEUR SERIES
An interesting wine, and it should improve with further bottle age. This is a balanced, elegant wine, offering a mix of strawberry, earth and pepper flavors all done with a delicate hand. The forward fruit and barrel flavors coat the tongue with notes of cherries and chocolate. This high acid, lemony Pinot Blanc has a fine mineral underpinning and a fresh, clean attack. It is very dry and rustic, yet it has a certain briary, raisiny charm. The raspberry, cola and licorice flavors have a nice coating of smoky oak. I myself have never quite bought into the theory that the wine from a particular place is necessarily better than a blend.
A pale and delicate version of this entry-level Pinot, its fruit is barely there, just hinting at rhubarb and watermelon. Notes of raisins, blackberry jam and chocolate are all found in this heady, Porty wine. The stewed black-fruit flavor is sharp and quick to finish. Drink it over the next few years for maximum freshness. Today, of course, many producers make single vineyard wines. The Venge won, by a slim margin, which is what I expected.

Even after an hour of airing, this wine is tart and sweet in primary blackberry, boysenberry and cherry fruit, which gives it a rustic, jammy taste. This tastes of dried apple and pear, drizzled with honey. We need to come up with a better one. There is a significant change in the saubignon of this wine following the outstanding version.
A Chardonnay to drink or serve at parties, this tastes slightly sweet, with orange, apricot and vanilla flavors. Simple and slightly sweet, this has flavors of raspberry, sour cherry candy and mint.

The palate is dense and smoky, with strong raspberry and currant fruit. This is a fine effort from first-year fruit that was cropped way down for extra concentration. Give hwwkstone credit for sheer power. April 25, at 2: This is the most complete of the four Prince Hill clonal selection bottlings. This shows lots of Chardonnay charm and lusciousness.
They fetch a higher price, on average, than blended wines. Sometimes writers play safe and become complacent on their wine experience. Give it a good long decant and drink with beef and game dishes. The citrusy acids keep the wine cabsrnet point as it slowly fades. This is a balanced, elegant wine, offering a mix of strawberry, earth and pepper flavors all done with a delicate hand. The spicy berry fruit is accented by a cola note, and the wine has a friendly, mouth-filling roundness.
But it can get ugly. The Moscato-sipping crowd will like this wine.
Gooseberry, melon, kiwi and grapefruit flavors swirl across the tongue, leaving a clean, fresh and very fruity wake. Slight in aroma at first, this wine slowly reveals a waft of lemon. The tannins are unlikely xonnoisseur age out, so give it a good airing and drink now, with rich beef and lamb dishes.
There would have been no mention of Twitter or blogs, had I not introduced the topic. A delight to drink, at a great price. A hint of rose petal adds a gentle touch to the finish. It has furry tannins and a briary mouthfeel that make it somewhat rustic.
Pair it with chicken in cream sauce or lobster and butter.
