What I think is most different about this …more It’s similar in the way that it has pictures accompanying the text. And not just any asylum–a last resort for the criminally insane. What would you do if you attended a college that used to be an asylum for the criminally insane? So it’s not a particularly original idea, but there’s a reason it’s been done on numerous occasions. I can forgive a coincidence or two, but this was just too much. This type of ending is a special instance of deus ex machina , known as the folie adieu , which is French for “Are you fucking kidding me? That being said, the setting of the story is definitely the best part.

Their apparent reasons for acting outside of their character were forced and not well-written as to create a sensible flow within the book. I am hoping that it does. Definitely not my usual read… You should check out Seveneves next. Dan starts to suffer from hallucinations, Jordan and Dan from nightmares and all of the friends from disturbing images and creepy texts that threaten to kill them all.

The idea behind the story was solid: Abby and Dan kindle a romance, which threatens their friendship with Jordan. The next, I had changed my mind and was scrambling to put the pieces together myself, to figure out who was behind all of this madness. Brenda Drake grew up the youngest of three children, He wasn’t under-developed asyluj I would have liked to see his character furthered in this book.

I cannot buy this friendship, the way it was written does not ring mdaeleine. Exceeded my expectations with flying colours, yes it did.

I couldnt put it down. I really enjoy that she made the setting a character itself and did a very good job of that. Dan meets Jordan, Abby and his new roommate Felix but after a short time at the asylum, nothing madrleine quite what it seems. Josh seemed to have a pretty constant flow of thoughts but he lost his sheet lol. There were so many different plots among the main plot!!
The warden became one of my favorite villains in the history of fictional villains. The inclusion of pictures in the novel certainly enhanced the creepiness of the story.
Jordan reveals that his parents, who do not accept his sexuality, might kick him out. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a huge fan of the writing style either. I recommend this book to fans of YA, mysteries and thrillers, and to anyone searching for a genuinely creepy read. So it’s not a particularly original idea, but there’s a reason it’s been done on numerous occasions. Still a really nice touch using all of the old photos, though.
